How long have you been playing?
I have been playing since I was 13.
Why do you volunteer?
I volunteer (for the same reason I wanted the club to start) to grow the game in Pembrokeshire for all!

Vice Chair
Sharon Kite
My favourite thing about HW Badminton club is...
Meeting new people and making new friends. The badminton is fun too.
My favourite badminton memory
I've toured with the Wales junior team. They may be juniors but they play brilliant badminton.
My favourite badminton shot
A net shot because I like that even a simple short can suprise your opponent and win you a point. It makes rallies more interesting.
How long have you been playing?
I have been playing for 12 years.
Why do you volunteer?
I volunteer because it's a fun, inclusive sport and anyone can start learning to play at any age.

Secretary
Dan Madrid
My favourite thing about HW Badminton club is...
The people. I've made loads of friends through the club everyone is friendly. I work from home, so it's a good excuse to be active, socialise and do something other than sit at a desk all day. The socials are always a bonus too!
My favourite badminton memory
The Christmas fancy dress tournament. Nothing says badminton quite like trying to play while dressed ridiculously. It's always a great laugh and one of the highlights of the year.
My favourite badminton shot
A smash. Every time. If in doubt, hit it harder and hope for the best.
How long have you been playing?
Since 2022, when I moved down here ... and they haven't been able to get rid of me since. I absolutely love being a part of it.
Why do you volunteer?
I enjoy being involved and helping out. I also like making sure everyone feels welcome.

Why do you volunteer?
I volunteer to give back to the club that has been so wlcoming to me and to help it keep getting bigger and better!

Playing some top notch players and improving my game. I enjou both the social and competitive matches you get at the club and the friendly atmosphere.
My favourite badminton memory
Watching my children Maisie and Dan represent Wales at Junior level. I enjoy playing with them still on the occasional club night.
My favourite badminton shot
I haven't really got a favourite shot but I am working on the reverse slice at the moment, that looks good when it comes off.
How long have you been playing?
15 years, when the kids took it up, albeit I did play a little through work.
Why do you volunteer?
I volunteer as it gave us the opportunity to do something as a family. Now the kids are grown up it's nice to feel part of a growing club where you can have a great laugh and keep fit.

Connor Williams
My favourite thing about HW Badminton club is...
How friendly the games can be. Life is too short to take things too seriously. However there are some serious games too!
My favourite badminton memory
I've represented Wales in the mens singles.
My favourite badminton shot
A smash, there's nothing better than hitting a really good smash and seeing it land exactly where you want it!
How long have you been playing?
I have been playing since I was young.
Why do you volunteer?
I volunteer to help improve people's games. It’s rewarding to help players develop their skills, build confidence and enjoy their games more.

Ladies Captain & Welfare Officer
Hannah Walters
My favourite thing about HW Badminton club is...
How much I feel the club has helped me grow as a player. I also love the social side, we often get together for socials through the summer and Christmas period.
My favourite badminton memory
Taking part in competitions within club and across Pembrokeshire and Wales. It's the people you meet and the experiences that come with playing competitions.
My favourite badminton shot
Net shots, there's nothing more satisfying than a net shot, that's tight to the net and make it difficult for your opponent to return.
How long have you been playing?
I began playing as part of my GCSE's and have continued on from then.
Why do you volunteer?
I volunteer because I love being part of the club and want help make it a friendly welcoming club.
I want to see more people participate in badminton, and enjoy watching them grow in skill and confidence.

Committee Member
Arjun Rajasekharan
My favourite thing about HW Badminton club is...
How you are able to drop in and out of the club to suit your own life. No one is made to feel like they have to turn up every week.
My favourite badminton memory
Beating one of my badminton coaches when I was younger (I'm sure he let me win though now)
My favourite badminton shot
Has to be a smash, I love the feeling of catching it perfectly and being able to put real power behind a shot.
How long have you been playing?
3 years, played in Haverfordwest and whilst I was in University.
Why do you volunteer?
I have a passion for badminton and want to help with the engagement badminton deserves.

Junior Captain
Dan Baker
My favourite thing about HW Badminton club is...
I get to socialise with my friends outside of school.
Unfortunately, Dan, our Junior Captain, has decided to step down from his position as Junior Captain due to other commitments and to allow him to focus on his AS Levels.
We’d like to thank Dan for all his hard work, enthusiasm and commitment to the club during his time as Junior Captain. He has made a real contribution to the junior section, and we’re very grateful for everything he has done.
We wish Dan every success with his AS Levels and look forward to seeing him around the club!
We will be looking to appoint a new Junior Captain at our next AGM in 2027. More information about the role and how to put yourself forward will be shared closer to the time.
