New West Wales Badminton League Kicks Off with a Great First Month!

Welcome to the official update for the New West Wales Badminton League (WWBL), and the exciting launch of our new pages on the Haverfordwest Badminton Club website!

A Fantastic First Month of Fixtures!

It’s been a great start to the league, with some very exciting and closely contested matches across the first month. We’ve loved seeing the competitive spirit come alive again in West Wales, and we’re thrilled to have this vibrant league back on our doorstep! While we know there are still a few things to iron out, we want to congratulate all teams on completing your first full month of fixtures.

We hope you’ve enjoyed the action so far and are busy organising your December and January fixtures. We can’t wait to see what the next months bring!

League Updates & Team Changes

We’re sorry to report that Whack a Mole have unfortunately had to withdraw from the league due to a significant injury. As a result, all fixtures involving this team will be null and void. Please disregard any upcoming fixtures against them in your fixture diary.

We also have a team name change to announce! Delboy and Drongo will now be playing under the name Alright Dave and Drongo, with Mark Hubbard being replaced by David Hayes.

Fixture Extensions & Forfeits

We’re aware that a few games haven't been played within the expected timeframe, and while we’ve discussed potential forfeits, our main priority is to encourage the completion of all fixtures. To avoid a significant impact on the league table, we’ve decided to extend the deadline for any unfinished November and December fixtures until Friday, February 14th - Valentine's Day!

League Table & Results

The league table is still a work in progress and, for the time being, we’re using a manual version. While this may allow for occasional human error, we’ve set up a dedicated page on our website for you to view the WWBL Results & Table. We’ll be updating the table monthly to keep everyone informed of the latest standings.

Injury Substitutes

A quick reminder: each team is allowed to call up two replacement players during the season. Once a substitute has played for a team, they cannot play for another team. Please ensure you request any injury substitutes through the league secretary, who will approve them unless there's a significant difference in skill level. If there’s any uncertainty, the League Decision Panel will provide further guidance.

With injuries already affecting several teams, we’ll continue to monitor this closely and aim to be as flexible as possible.

Submit Your Results Online

Thank you to all those who’ve already used the new online form for submitting match results! It seems to be working well, and we appreciate your efforts to keep everything up to date.

If you’ve used a substitute player, please be sure to note this in the notes section when submitting your results.

One small request: when entering scores, please avoid using a dash (e.g., enter 21 10 instead of 21 - 10). This helps us avoid formatting issues when entering the data into Excel. Thanks for your help with this!

Shuttlecock Supplies

Each pair of players receives two tubes of shuttles (24 total) to cover their 10 home fixtures. We’ve ensured that this amount should be sufficient for the season, but if you find you need more, please don’t hesitate to contact Tom. Additional shuttles are available at cost price.
